At Sims Lifecycle Services (SLS), our mission is simple: to help our clients achieve their sustainability goals while making a positive impact on the planet. The newly released FY25 Sustainability Report from Sims Limited, our parent company, celebrates the achievement of key sustainability goals that deliver direct benefits to the organizations we partner with.
How SLS Delivers Real Value to Our Clients
- Carbon Neutral Circular Centers: In FY25, SLS achieved carbon neutrality across our direct operations, considerably reducing the carbon impact of our services.
- Significant Emissions Reductions: We cut our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 71% compared to our FY20 baseline.
- 100% Renewable Electricity: All operated businesses now run on renewable electricity, one of the most significant steps in our decarbonization journey to date.
These achievements aren’t just numbers – they directly translate into lower carbon footprints for our clients by reducing their Scope 3 emissions.
Circular solutions for real-world impact

By repurposing 8.8 million IT assets in FY25, SLS enabled clients to extend the life of equipment through redeployment and avoid the emissions that come with manufacturing new devices. Our refurbishment and remanufacturing programs give new life to valuable IT assets. Our advanced recycling capabilities reduce waste while strengthening supply chains.
Rare earth metal recovery
SLS is pioneering rare earth metal recovery from hard drive magnets. Through initial mechanical separation by SLS and later downstream chemical recovery, we recover rare earth metal neodymium that would otherwise be lost, helping clients reduce reliance on newly mined materials. These efforts have already avoided over 100 tons of CO₂ emissions.
Innovation and collaboration
SLS continues to invest in robotics, automation, AI and digital twin technology to improve the quality and reliability of reused components. These advancements enable more effective redeployment of these used components, giving our clients confidence to transition from “buy new” to “reuse first” in their live environment.
Value chain engagement
We are enhancing our internal Scope 3 emissions measurements to go beyond direct SLS operations, expanding it to include emissions from our wider supply chain. This broader view supports our progress toward a net-zero service offering and drives decarbonization across our entire value chain.
The bottom line
SLS’ sustainability initiatives aren’t just good for the planet – they create real value for clients, helping them lower costs, reduce risk and build stronger reputations as sustainable leaders in their own industries. Together, we’re making progress toward a more sustainable future – one device at a time.
