The Sustainable Electronics Reuse & Recycling Standard, version 3.0 (R2v3), is a stringent set of requirements for the management and processing of used electronics. This standard is supported by major electronic OEM’s, the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), public interest groups, the US EPA, and US state and local governments.
Many SLS facilities have achieved R2 certifications as indicated in the chart above.
ISO 14001:2015 is a standard for environmental management systems with the aim of reducing the environmental footprint of a business and decreasing the pollution and waste a business produces. It exists to help organizations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment.
Most SLS operations are ISO 14001:2015 certified.
ISO 45001 is an international occupational health and safety management system specification. SLS has taken our highly regarded safety program to new levels with SimsMMway Safety, developed to integrate recognized elements of positive safety management into our work culture.

SLS commitment to ISO 9001:2015 compliance assures customers that we have defined quality processes in place. ISO 9001 is an international quality management standard for defined processes, supported by detailed and adequate records, checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary. SLS regularly reviews individual processes and our quality system itself for effectiveness, thereby ensuring an environment that operates with a philosophy of continual improvement.

ISO 27001 certification ensures adequate processes are in place and adhered to on an ongoing basis to minimize security risks. SLS regularly reviews individual processes at each of our facilities and have adopted internal best practices standards, operating with a philosophy of continual improvement.

SLS has earned Gold Partner status with Blancco. Blancco’s data destruction software is embedded within our online asset tracking and management system. This integration enables us to provide more direct value to our clients.
Different regions are governed by regional data destruction standards. SLS securely handles client assets and meets data destruction standards throughout the world.

Sims Lifecycle Services UK is certified to the National Cyber Security Centre Commodity Assured Service scheme for Sanitisation (CAS S). CAS S is an Internationally recognised accreditation which commercial organisations can subscribe to demonstrate compliance to HMG IS5 standard for data sanitisation and destruction, which is a requirement for organisations who provide services to the UK government.
Certification to CAS S provides our clients with the assurance that SLS has a framework of policies; procedures; operational processes; technical systems; employee vetting and security vulnerability assessments developed to identify and mitigate threats to sensitive data bearing media for Mobile Sanitisation Services.
SLS is a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR). Our MAR status certifies we install a genuine Windows operating system on all of our compatible refurbished laptops and PCs. These devices come equipped with the Microsoft Windows operating system.
WEEELABEX is a landmark European certification that sets standards and closely monitors the processing and disposal of WEEE. It also audits outlets for secondary raw materials at the end of the process and has a strong focus on health and safety. Weeelabex, started in 2009, is a multi-stakeholder project run by the WEEE Forum in co-operation with OEMs and WEEE processors.
Many certifications are global in scope. Based on regional requirements and conditions, some accreditations are regionally based. Because we provide global solutions to our clients, SLS seeks local accreditations, where appropriate.
