roseville-recycling-facility-reopensOn September 26, 2013, over 50 dignitaries, company representatives, government officials, media and Sims Recycling Solutions staff gathered to celebrate the grand reopening of our state of the art Roseville recycling facility near Sacramento, California.

The newly overhauled, 200,000-square-foot Roseville facility now features the world’s most powerful electronic waste recycling system. This modernized technology has an improved workflow process; and the equipment investment and engineering innovation will enable Sims to increase processing capacity by 36.4 million pounds per year, the equivalent of two million modern desktop PCs.

Installation of the new equipment began in April, replacing the existing 1990s-era sort-and-shred process automation with a new system that quadruples the plant’s volume capacity. Sims Recycling Solutions has recently begun processing material using the new equipment.

“As electronic waste remains the fastest growing waste stream and we continue to increase the amount of material collected at this facility, we needed a technology that would have the capacity to process this rising demand of material ready for recycling,” stated Bill Vasquez, General Manager, West Region for Sims Recycling Solutions. “This equipment now provides us with the benefit of accepting and handling material in bulk and further promotes more efficient recycling processes.”

During the September 26 event attendees took a full tour of the plant to see firsthand the new equipment and how it significantly improved processing workflow.
