Sims Recycling Solutions, Canada, recently announced the opening of their newest electronics recycling facility in Quebec, Canada. The 55,000-square-foot facility is located in Laval, Quebec, north of Montreal. This location allows Sims to expand their current Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment processing capabilities for consumers, businesses, governments, and provincial programs throughout Canada.
“Quebec, home to 24 percent of the Canadian population, is the latest province to implement WEEE recycling regulations. If Quebec’s volumes reflect those of other provinces driven by similar regulations, we can expect at least 25,000 metric tonnes of WEEE to be recycled in Quebec over the next year,” said Cindy Coutts, president, Sims Recycling Solutions, Canada. “Sims Recycling Solutions is committed to developing the most advanced recycling technology and providing more green jobs in Canada and the world.”
Sims established this new facility to serve the Quebec market now that the province’s WEEE stewardship regulations, Direction des matières résiduelles et des lieux contaminés – Service des matière résiduelles (Regulation Respecting the Recovery and Reclamation of Products by Enterprises), went into effect earlier this summer.
