SLS constructed a proof-of-concept dedicated Circular Center in West Chicago to manage comprehensive parts harvesting programs from decommissioned server racks for a global hyperscaler. This facility was designed as a customized environment, engineered to support high-volume component recovery with precision processes and advanced automation tailored to the unique requirements of hyperscale data centers. The facility provided server processing to scale, and processed racks, servers, storage devices and DIMMS, including resell and redeployment to client-owned data centers.

Our West Chicago site is enabling the clean, scalable recovery of rare earth magnets from retired hard drives. We isolate and deliver these magnets as a separated stream for advanced chemical recovery, improving downstream processing and reducing the need for virgin rare earth extraction.
