unwanted-electronics-sims-san-joseOnce again, Sims Recycling Solutions is teaming up with the San Jose Sharks to host electronics collection events throughout the 2013-2014 National Hockey League (NHL) season. Total weights collected from these events in the past have helped divert approximately 150,000 pounds of hazardous electronic devices from the landfill. Sims strategically chose to partner with the Sharks partly due to their prime location right in the heart of the Silicon Valley, the leading hub for high-tech innovation and development.

Along with providing convenient disposal services to leading technology engineers and developers, Sims’ goal is to also provide hockey fans within the local community the chance to enjoy an inside look at the San Jose hockey team and a chance to win autographed Sharks merchandise!

The next upcoming e-waste collection event will be held on March 8, 2014 at the SAP Center at San Jose, in the main parking lot (Lot ABC) located at 525 West Santa Clara Street. Set up as a drive-through and drop-off recycling event, Sims Recycling Solutions will accept computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, PDAs, cell phones, telephones, televisions, radios, stereos, speakers, MP3 players, CD and DVD players, and VCRs. We will be unable to accept batteries, smoke detectors or large appliances. For those who plan to recycle a monitor or television, please print and complete the collection log found at the www.simslifecycle.com/sharks website to ensure faster processing.

Everyone who drops off an item for recycling on March 8 will be able to watch the Sharks in their pre-game morning skate, as well as receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win exclusive Sharks merchandise and memorabilia.

“These events are great opportunities for fans to not only conveniently and responsibly recycle their old electronics, but also to have the access to sit as close as they want to the ice to support the team during their warm-ups prior to these games,” stated Steve Skurnac, president of Sims Recycling Solutions. “It’s a win for the fans, the players, and the environment.
